Flight to Night's Plutonian Shore
I had an accident in 2022 that prevented me from working as I was accustomed. One thing I was capable of doing with my injury was embroidery. I love Edgar Allen Poe and find the recorded history of his life fascinating. This embroidery painting is inspired by, arguably, his most famous poem, "The Raven." This image is from the point of view and imagination of the speaker in the poem.
From the second to last paragraph:
"“Get thee back into the tempest and the Night’s Plutonian shore! Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken! Leave my loneliness unbroken!—quit the bust above my door! Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!”"Size: Original painting: 9" x 12"
Details: Painted using raw pigment oil on canvas and embroidery floss.
